Grilled peaches and yogurt

Peaches with honey (ροδακινα με mέλι – rodhakina me mili)

What a beautiful summer treat this turned out to be…I mean, anytime we use the grill, it’s  kind of magical: grilled corn, shrimp, chicken, lamb…ah-mazing.

But what is summer without a dessert to remember?

This one, although simple, turned out to be tricky. We came across this recipe and couldn’t wait to turn it into a little Greek masterpiece. It started off with some regular yogurt which we quickly substituted with Greek yogurt. Then we decided to add a little Greek honey to make this a true Greek inspired dish.

Heating up the fruit really releases its natural sweet factor and the yogurt and honey almost melt  into the peach creating this wonderful assortment of flavors.

Where we ran into some trouble, and you might have too, is with the peaches. Truth be told, Jane and I don’t really buy peaches that often, so the first time around we got some that weren’t very ripe and we felt it didn’t turn out as sweet as we’d like. Not to mention, the peaches took FOREVER on the grill.

The following day we went to our local farmer’s market and Jane spotted some really nice peaches that were soft and perfect. We decided that we owed it to ourselves to attempt this recipe one more time.

This time around, the peaches were juicy and delicious – even before they hit the grill.

Needless to say, the second attempt sealed the deal for us and we decided they were truly amazing and we were confident that they belonged on our site.

So give this tasty and healthy Greek inspired dessert a try and let us know what you think. Remember, it’s all in the peaches 🙂 Kali Orexi.
